Dr. Harbour is a physician-leader, healthcare executive, clinical researcher and public health professional with expertise in internal medicine, infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, PreP, hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and maternal-fetal health. After completing a research fellowship at the NIH and graduate medical training, I served on the faculty at both Harvard Medical School and Stanford University School of Medicine. I have international medical experience having treated AIDS and tuberculosis patients in Tanzania. I have also lectured throughout the US and internationally.
As an Executive Director and team leader at Merck, I assisted in the development of HIV and HCV medicines. My expertise is in medical and scientific affairs, all phases of pharmaceutical medicine development (I-IV), treatment adherence, patient-centered innovations in clinical trials and healthcare information technology. I worked at the WHO in Geneva on maternal health issues. President Obama invited me to the White House for World AIDS Day as recognition of my contributions. I am a proud recipient of the Joseph and Rose Kennedy Scholarship for Bioethics at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University and an Achievement Award from AIDS Coalition of Silicon Valley. I practice HIV/AIDS medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a Stanford teaching hospital, and lecture at Stanford Medical School. I also serve as Chief Medical Officer of a public-private partnership specializing in digital health with the University California Berkeley School of Public Health.
He also serves as Chief Medical Officer of ConnectWell, a public-private partnership with University of California Berkeley School of Public Health. We provide leading-edge digital health and wellness content that is academically sourced, evidence-based and designed for patients. My TED talk entitled “The Democratization of Health Information in the Digital Age” is based on this work. As CMO, I utilize my deep and broad medical background for product and business development, strategy, sales and contract negotiation, and licensing agreements in this rapidly evolving digital health technology sector.
